 The Blackwood Cottage is located 360 km west of Melbourne, 460 km east of Adelaide and 10 min. from the pristine beaches of the Discovery Coast. The Cottage is part of 103 acres beef cattle and horse property adjoining the Cobboboonee Forest Park next to the Cobboboonee National Park. These are adjoining the Lower Glenelg Nationalpark. There are more than 27000 Ha of beautiful bush and forest with its wildlife to explore. Simply open the farm gate and try bush-walking, horse riding, mountain biking or watching the local wildlife. The famous Great South West Walk is just only a 10 min away with its Cubby's camp. We have been living here since 2004 and started with 4 large paddocks and one sick tree. Now there are plenty of native trees and two wildlife corridors expanding from the Forest Park into the farm to attract wildlife. This corridors shelter Koalas, Wallabies, Kangaroos and Birds. Eagles are often seen in the area hunting for rabbits. Kangaroos are early in the morning in the back paddocks. There are Emus, Echidnas, Possums and others in the adjoining forest. Part of our lifestyle includes horses that are used for trail riding in the forest to enjoy the nature and see the wildlife. Its a pleasure to just open the farm gate and enter into the beautiful forest without crossing roads. From here you can ride your horse safely or walk your dog, ride your bicycle on many different tracks without hardly seeing anybody for many kilometers. New is a riding school next door for beginners to advanced riders and all ages. Lessons and Trailrides offered. We invite people to take part in this lifestyle to get away from the hustle and bustle and relax for a while. Host speaks English and German. |
